Hi everyone! I purchase a lawnmower blenny about 2 weeks ago and he's a great fish! He got rid of my algae problem on thew glass but now I'm getting worried he's gonna starve. I went to my lfs and they gave me some frozen foos. Its a herbivor diet but I don't see him eat any of it. I also tried mysis shrimp but nothing. He keeps on trying to eat the algae on glass. Should I be worried? Does someone have one of these guys that can give me some tips? Do you need more info? I have him in my 29 gallon tank with live rock, live sand, some corals, a green bubble tip anemoni, one clown fish and some hermit crabs and a few snails. Water parameters are 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and very little nitrate but nitrate is not 0.

you should try to give him some algae seaweed food it looks like this Brown Marine Algae by Ocean Nutrition - AquaCave
it has a clip with a sucking cup so it is easily stick onto you tank food looks like seaweed strips, another way is what i do to feed my blenny and tang is i take lettuce and rubber band it to a rock then drop it into the tank the fish would pick on the lettuce's green leaf and leave the middle part behind!! hopefully your blenny will eat it, and i hope this helps!

Lawnmower blennies rarely eat prepared food and even when they do, it will not sustain them. They should not be in a tank that is less than 75 gallons IMHO. I would take it back.

ya i would also take him back but if hes picking on the glass there must be some sort of algae. he wouldnt just pick at glass if there wasnt some algae on it. just like you wouldnt try to eat of a plate with nothing on it you can also try putting knori on the algae clips
