I thought of this and did some research tonight... it seems that there 20%-30% prices they have now are about even with the cheapest prices I found online, maybe a hair more. So if they go down more then I jockey with them I think I will be doing good. Like I said before I am looking in the range of 500-600 so I don't think I'll be hurting at that price for a 40-46 incher. If they won't go down that low I'll walk. My current tv isn't the nicest but it cost $100 and I don't pay extra for HD::);D

I was leaning that way but we will see... I think if I can get one for the price I want that I won't be hurt either way:confused:

I got two plasmas 50" and 42" that have great pictures. I've left them on over night plenty of times before and neither have any burn marks. I was also told that LCD TV technology is still new and most manufacturers haven't worked out all the bugs on them yet. Compared to the plasmas tvs which have been around for a while now. I always buy the extended warranty anyways. Don't quote me but I think the plasma tvs have more colors, which gives you a better picture too. But it's all personal preference as long as you get a good deal.

Well I stopped by again today and they dropped about $100 each. Still not low enough for me to jump in... I'm looking for a steal and if I don't get one I don't care! They will be open another month so I am going to keep on checking in. I can get a new one online for a little over what they are asking for the display models......

Circuit City went out a few months ago here, they never did beat the Best Buy prices though. They never even made it down to below there previously "Big Sale" prices on most items. I heard most stores found other dealers who purchased their supplies so didn't have to sell everything dirt cheap.

We got LCD from Best Buy last month when one was on sale.

I have a Samsung 40" series 6 120hertz and a 46" series 5. I got the series 6 this year and the thing is 10 times better then the series 5. I bought the series 6 at thanksgiving from Circuitcity for 1300.00 but they had a deal for 90 days price matching, so after they dropped the price 2 times a hundred each time I ended up paying 1100.00.

As far as plasma I do not have one but depending on the brand you buy they do not have the same burn in issue as the old ones as they have developed pixel shifting technology.. I am sure Samsung is not the only one with this technology. I cut and pasted the below info to help you out.

Pixel shifting is a feature in Samsumg plasma displays that prevents static images (e.g., station bugs) from causing image retention and burn-in. The entire video frame is moved periodically so there are effectively no static images. One[1] definition reads: "the image rotates in a circle in a way imperceptible to the viewer with a defined rhythm and pixel interval." Basically, the firmware moves the video horizontally and vertically so many pixels every n minutes. You can define the number of pixels moved and their interval using the pixel-shifting parameters in the setup menu. Dead Pixels can also be an issue with both Plasma and LCD.

I have a couple friends with plasma's and they do have an unbelievable picture.
Also plasma has come down in price compared to what it used to be.

Last thing I can not stress more is if you buy a Samsung buy at least the series 6 if not 7. If you need to sacrifice a little size for the newer technology it is worth it.

I would get a subscription to consumerreports.org and research it that way. I renew my subscription yearly and for any purchase over $100, I use it. Most recently, I used it for my new car purchase. There is money that is well spent.

That is weird that LCD is winning by such a big margin... everything I have read has given plasma a slight edge...
