What kind of room is it going in? What is the lighting like. That should play a part in the decision. If you have alot of natural light coming in with lots of windows there will be a reflection with Plasma. Less with LCD. Your blacks are better with Plasma than LCD but that is imporving with the newer LCD sets. I have 2 Panasonic Plasmas and I am very VERY happy with them. I game on them and watch alot of TV and Blue ray looks amazing.

Do you have an entire entertainment system? there are lots of factors to consider when deciding on what Screen would work best. I have some pretty good knowledge in this if you want some help. CC prices are not great and whatever you do don't buy a display unit. Calibration is very imporant when you buy plasma there is a break in period and some rules you should follow. Calibration is imporant with LCD as well but not sure about a break in period.

And if you go with the lcd so you wont have a reflection, make sure you get one with a flat black edge not gloss. Its the only thing I dont like about my lcd. Its annoying to have a clear tv screen and have a shine on the edge.

Plasmas are old school if it's the same size always go with LCD.

    Plasma
    Pros:
    Amazing picture quality.
    Beautiful colors
Nicely thin and wall mount capable.
    The best in viewing angles
Excellent brigthness for good viewing in a bright sunny room.
Minimal screen door effect when it comes to close distances.

    Cons:
Burn in problems can occur, but getting better as the new technologies roll out.
Brightness definitely reduces over time when watching.
Loves to eat a lot of power.
Available past a certain, screen size, 42' and up, you may find some models that go one down.

    LCD
    Pros:
Available in smaller sizes, unlike plasma.
    Thin for easy wall mounting.
    Excellent picture quality.
    Excellent color quality.
Excellent brightness levels, still easy to see in bright rooms.
    No burn-in.

    Cons:
Does not have the best blacks which leads to lack of shadow depth.
Motion Blur. Newer LCD models have reduced motion bur.
Not too good with viewing from angles, but definitely getting improved with the newer models.
Limited in size, if you want past 42' inches, you may have to go with rear projection LCD.

I bought a Pioneer 5070HD about 1.5 years ago and it does not have burn in. I dont know if lcd has caught up but I know that before the main advantage with plasmas was deeper blacks. Also, a little common sense should help with burn in. (Like not leaving bloomberg on all day, and using sleep timers ;D)

My 42" is a philips plasma as well. I love it with no problems. Great picture and no burning. You can't go wrong with this one. I have seen a few with a better picture but this one is alright to me in my book.
