alright guys, so after a large water change last night a bulkhead decided to start leaking. Like the smart guy I am, I attempted to tighten it.... now I have a VERY leaky bulkhead at the bottom of my 100 gallon tank. I tried silicon and that water sealing epoxy- neither worked. I don't need to use this bulkhead but would hate to tear my tank apart just to replace it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

sounds like you might have cracked it by over tightening. They are very easy to crack. Did you by chance have the bulk head tool?

I don't, just a wrench. I have never heard of the bulkhead tool? I really don;t want to drain my entire tank and remove all the rock and fish =-(

unfortunatly if it is a cracked bulkhead, no amount of silicone will work. Good luck

    What's a bulkhead tool?

If that happened in my 210g, I think I'd cry.

Sounds like you need to do a quick drain and replace. It will only get worse.

tool kind of looks like this. They came with my drain pipes in one of my tank. Designed for the bulkheads. Great little tool.

i guess i should be more technical than "bulk head tool" it is a bulk head wrench!

actually replacing it is not AS bad as it might seem. All you have to do is turn off your pumps and drain the water out only to where it is below the overflow. Then drain the overflow and there you go.....you can change out that bulkhead. Ask your LFS if they have a wrench you can borrow
