leaning live rock on glass

    what happens if i have my live rock leaning on my glass?

    i have heard its not a good thing for some reason?

    bad idea.. It will cause scratches which can eventually fail.. Also the pressure alone from leaning against the glass along with the weight of water is never a good thing..

    I'm with bama,plus it makes it hard to clean the glass if you don't have room between it and the rock.

    If by leaning you mean bearing weight against the glass, then that's ill advised. If you just mean touching the glass--if you don't mind the inability to clean the glass, then it won't hurt anything probably, but if the rock settles/moves, it will leave fine scratches. I don't think scratches such as these are weak points, but I think best practice probably dictates that glass be kept untouched by all things in your tank except snails. :)
