2 days ago i bought a "crown leather" from the lfs. It put it in the tank at the sand bed and it has perked up yet so i decided to move its postion today. Now that I moved it (and while it was in my hand) it seemed to be ptting ot some kinda chemical... Is this normal? Should i be concerned? Since I was handling it, is the chemical harmful?

Why do you think it is putting out a chemical? I would guess it is just shedding mucus (slime coat), that is common for leathers. However, your description is pretty vague.

well when i went to move it this milky white substance was coming off it (please hold all jokes) it quickly dissipated in the water and continued for a few minutes after i moved it. It was a fair amount... Is that the mucus you were talking about

It is normal for leathers to shed once in a while. Avoid touching it. They do not like to be handled. ;)

+1 it sounds like it was sloughing, shouldn't be a problem, it's normal of leathers.
