My leather toadstool is pretty big and sheds pretty regulary, I would say once every 3-4 months. It usually only takes about 3 days before its fully open again. Right now its in the shedding process, but it started on Friday- today is Thursday, so about 6 days. It was weird this time around.
On day 2 or 3 half of it opened back up so I thought the next day, the rest would follow but it closed completely up again. I can definetly tell its shedding, because I can see some skin molts hanging off of it. Its in really good flow- enough but not too much, so I know that not the problem.

I know they shed and Im not concerned about that, Im concerned on how long this one is taking, does anyone else have time frames on their leather toadstools.

The only thing I can think of, is that it is getting so big its taking longer and longer each time.

    Here's a couple more things,
It is still keeping its form and standing straight up, its not getting soft or detoriating, besides the skin coming off of it, which I know is fine, just look like a snake skin shed almost

My man and I were talking about this last night actually. I have a large devils finger leather, it is one of the first corals to tell me something is not right. Generally with this leather it is my salinity. Mine shedded over the weekend and yesterday morning still wasn't back to normal, I checked my salinity and it was low. I have slowly been adding salt to the sump and right away it started doing better. I know why the salinity was low, it was something stupid I did, but that doesn't matter at this point. Regardless I keep my salinity at 1.024 and everything seems happy.

Sounds good. I just did a water change, about 3 days into its shedding process, it made no difference. I know my salinity is at about 1.023

You could make shedding easier by adjusting (increasing) water flow... My leather used to love that!

My Toadstool is weird that way. In so many words "it's just being a Toadstool". Mine just shut down for a shed (and to eat) and it is in it's 2nd week. It is just starting to extend it's hairs. Did this on the last time also. I think you are right though, the larger they are growing the longer it is taking. I wouldn't worry. I think we want the full beautiful creature and are impatient!

    Nice Pic.
Update, I think Im on about a week and a day and still no polyp extension. Im not too worried because its still holding shape and standing up straight, and it looks the same as it always does when it sheds.

Whats weird is I went to my LFS the other day, about 3 days into my shed, and every one of their leathers were also shedding.
They said it might be related to the moon, or some kind of ocean tidal thing.

Ok, after about a week and a half the leather is finally full and open. This was a very long shed. Its like it almost did two sheds. Just yesterday I noticed more of its shed coming off of it. Now its almost all off and pretty much fully open.
