Hi I'm totally new to corals and so decided on a leather to start me off. In the shop it stood up lovely. I have tried it in a few posistions but it just bends over. Also it likes to close down lots and make me paranoid that it is going to die. What can I do to stand it up right. It is in a good flow of water and set in the middle of the tank. Please help as I cant sleep.

Any hints on the tank layout would be great too!!

How long have you had it?

Nice looking layout you have there. That rock is loaded with coraline.

Are you sure it isn't slumping over because of current? My toadstool was slumped over for a while after I added a colt coral to the tank. Don't know if it was chemical warfare or what. I added carbon to my filter for a while and it straightened out again. Don't know if carbon will work for you but it's worth a try since it won't hurt anything.

Im guessing your parameters are good? If you dont know, check them. also, like said above, how long have you had it? If its new, you just need to give it time to adjust.
Nice tank. If you want some hardier coral, go with softies. Mushrooms, xenia, zoas. What kind of lighting do you have?

Its the only coral in the tank. My Parametres have been suffering from a high Nitrate level but I cant seem to lower it any lower than 30ppm. Everything else is good. The coral has been in there for about 3 weeks now.

Well, you don't give us the tank size but it appears to be 55 gal.+ and I only saw 1 Koralia (a 3 or 4 maybe). I have a #3 and #4, plus my returns and added a nano just for my large Toadstool in my 55 gal. They need a lot of flow, more than people think.

30 ppm is too high. Do water changes every few days to get the nitrates down. Also remove any filter media, sponges, bio-wheels, etc you have that may trap waste where it will break down to nitrate. Also, add more flow. You want the LR to do the filtering now. Finally, consider adding a refugium w/ chateo algae.

Its a 125ltrs which I think is about 33 US gal or about 27 UK Gallons. I dont know which one you all work in. I have about 22kg of live rock so I roughly have 100ltrs of water (22 UK Gal).
I have removed all of my sponges except the bubble stop and a polishing pre filter pad. I run active carbon and phosphate remover changing at the correct times.
I recently took 90% of the water out in an attempt to lower the Nitrate levels. Original it was over 80ppm but I put this down to moving the tank and removing the live sand bed which stirred up all the muck. I have left the bottem just glass thinking it may be cleaner that way. On the 90% change it reduced it down to about 30ppm but I do regularly change the water but just cant seem to lower it. I buy my water pre mixed from my local marine stockist and that I have tested ok.
