Finally got cabin fever and booked a 7 night cruise to the Bahamas. We leave on Sunday and were just curious if anyone had any tips about neat things to do or things to avoid. We have heard mixed responses about Nassau being a little on the ghetto side but neither of us have been so we arent sure. The ship also stops in Port Canaveral, FL and Freeport, Bahamas.

Tour the atlantis complex in Nasssau, if you go diving dont use stuarts cove unless you dont mind sharing the boat with 25 other divers and 3 divemasters whose primary job is to video your adventure - on sale at the dock when you return for $39.95 :)

Bring plenty of disinfectant, seems every 3rd ship returning from the carribean these days is infested with sick passengers.

My parents just came back from a cruise to the bahamas. They did the swimming with the dolphins thing - mom absolutely loved it - dad said it was ok, but over priced.

We're gonna stock up on hand sanitizer! We were looking into snorkling until hearing that some 70 year old lady died last week because nobody on her dive team or her tour guides knew cpr. Apparently the waters were rough and everyone had major trouble geting back to the boat, she was the one that didnt make it. They said she had on an inflatable life vest but still somehow drown. On a better note, any idea what the Atlantis tour costs for two?

stay on the main streets in Nassau. Even on the busy main streets, you are likely to be offered some drugs for sale and other questionable items... Out near Atlantis it is much nicer but you will probably have to get a taxi ride there, i wouldnt want to walk that far.
I booked a snorkeling trip through some company associated with the cruise line and they were very nice. Took us to a pretty little cove on a private island and we could pretty much do whatever we wanted all day long. the reefs wernt amazing like down in mexico but it was still very nice. We could also travel around the private island on foot paths to see the wildlife.

no clue what they are charging for the day pass these days, when I was there 10 years ago it was $13 for the full day pass pool access not included. It was definitely worth the cost to see all the aquariums and so forth, and the food in the restaurants was great.

LOL, actually once you see the price of food on the island you might want to try that so you can afford dinner later :jester:
