Its about that time to change my lights and from what I know I think I am going to go with LEDs this time. I have no idea which ones i should by, how many i need, etc. Does anyone have any websites where i could educate myself, or any tips on how to buy, which ones to buy? Its a 28g nanocube. Thanks :drummer:

Thats a pretty general statement. What are you trying to keep as far as corals, and what type of look are you going for? Are you willing to build a DIY unit or are you looking for something off-the-shelf? We need a little bit more information. For your tank though, it won't cost a lot to light it so thats good.

    For DIY look here:
    Rapid LED Home Page

If you don't want to DIY something, look at the boostLED par30 bulbs:
    PAR30 Reef | BoostLED

Those are some really good cost effective ways to light a tank with LEDs. Some others may chime in with more suggestions.

Probably not. I have a buddy that runs 3 on a 21g SPS tank, so 2 may do you okay with some careful placement.

This is not going to work exactly for a JBJ, but it will give you a decent sense of what a DIY project will contain.

After some reading i think im going to steer clear of DIY, id have no idea what i was doing. Ive been looking at some ecoxotic 6-watt 12in. "stunner" led strips, and i was thinking i could just take my existing hood, take out everything from it, and just attach some of the strips to it? would this even work? how many strips would i need?

You should check out aqua illumination's nano light. Nothing even compares in the nano range yet.

Yes, but the nano would probably fit your need pretty well. As far as I've heard the nano's diodes put out more. It is supposed to be 60% as powerful with less than 50% the diodes and electrical consumption. It's am amazing light. I think the SOL generation of AI's lighting will be about done when their Phoenix comes out with the same technology as the nano.
