Hey guys it's been a while since I was on here last. I have been inactive in working on my 20 for the last year or so. I'm going to be starting it back up but I am still looking into LED. I have been looking at the AI nano but I'm not sure about using it on a 20 and it would only be about 2-3 inches from the surface of the water. I'm not sure what I will need for an SPS tank LED is still a foreign concept to me.

I've never heard of Nanobox. Or is that the AI Nano? I'm wondering if I would have full coverage with it only being that 2-3 inches above the water surface.

nanoboxreef, great handmade lights, far better than AI Nano's IMO.

for a 20H I would go with a JBJ Unibody. Nano box looks like a cool concept though.

I have a 20 high that I'm converting over from halide. I'm putting together a 20 diode Cree unit for about $150. There will be two dimmable strings of 10 diodes.

I recently set up a 20g tall frag tank with a Maxspect Razor Nano. I only have stylos and montis for SPS corals but they seem to be responding well now. I like the light but I haven’t had it long enough to give it a full review.

I bleached the corals initially because I did not dim the light enough. I don’t get complete coverage but that allows me to put the corals requiring less light on the sides. I don’t know if there is a nano light that will give you complete coverage on a 24” long tank though.

Thanks for all the great information you guys. I am wondering though, How would I go about mounting it in a Canopy? I customer built canopy for it I'll get a photobucket created and get pictures of it here in a bit. I need to do some modifications on it though as the metal L brackets holding everything together are starting to rust.

Finished the Canopy I'll get pics up shortly.

I was doing some reading and I'm not sure that I'll have enough space under the canopy to keep the LEDs cool. Maybe 2 inches on top and 2 inches to the water surface. Not sure what I can do to help the airflow other than put an aquarium fan up in the canopy.

It may be better to start a separate thread specifically about adding leds to a custom canopy. A lot of the DIYers would probably be more likely to view the thread that way. I have an all in one display tank so I won't be much help with any custom set ups.
