Here we go again. I've been away from the hobby for two years and it's time to set up a new tank. I moved back to Israel after living in Los Angeles for quite a while and I must tell you, the hobby here is SO much more expensive.

Anyways, I decided to get rid of my tank's T5 retrofit and go with LED fixture.
I can't afford spending $1000 on a fixture so I've been looking into less expensive Chinese fixtures.

In my search I came across this one

will it be okay for a L 24" x W 20" x H 23.8" mixed tank? Ideally I would like to grow clams, LPS and maybe few SPS.

I'm new to LEDs so I really need your help.

THANKS! It's good to be back ;D

That looks like a good deal for the cost. It's good that it is dimmable, you will be able to dial in the color that you prefer. You will probably need to dial it down till your corals acclimate,LEDs are intense.

Thanks! I was also looking into this one. Looks almost identical but this one also specify moonlights and "sunrise and sunset" (and it's cheaper!)

That appears to be the same fixture but the add only states free shipping to the us,you might try checking into shipping options to Israel.I have a sailing buddy that visits Tel Aviv on business but he may not be too keen on toting a light fixture along,jk.

IMO go with either a DIY retrofit (Stevesleds and ledgroupbuy are good), Maxspect Razor 20 inch ($400 for a sweet fixture), or reefbreeders fixture.

I didn't want to go with retrofit because it can get pretty hot in Tel Aviv, I know that LEDs don't really spread heat but a close tank will cause my chiller to work over time. I ended up getting the Odyssea fixture. $230 for fixture + hanging brackets (my ceiling is too high) + Fedex shipping is a pretty sweet deal.
I'll let you all know how it works when I get it.
