LED help

I have a set of marineland reef ready LED's. They have worked great in my 50 gallon. I have seen groowth and had my first frag a week ago. Anyway my problem is the blues are not enoough. I want the colors to pop more what moonlights are recommended? i picked up a cheapy set of blue leds and the marinelamd is so bright u cant e ven see the blue.

Moonlights won't do anything. The Marineland is very yellow-white, in order to market it both for marine and freshwater aquariums. Your eye sees green-yellow around 20+ times better than blue-violet light. So, you need a heck of a lot of blue to overpower green-yellow. I'm not sure exactly what the spectral response of the marineland is, but you probably need something, more or less equivalent in power and all blue, to start getting some good blue hues. If your handy, a T-5 retrofit kit, with 2 actinic T-5s would probably be the cheapest way. Or a DIY led build, with similar wattage to the marineland, using blue leds.

 

One reefbrite strip would make a world of difference.

Lol tell me about it. This lfs sold me a strip of crap blue leds. All i want is something that will make my corals pop more during the day.
