I'm setting up a fry tank rack for my tomato clowns. The system is 5 ten gallon tanks on top and a 75gallon sump/refugium. I want to use 5 cool white LEDs (one per tank) on one driver all in a single series. Then I want to add full lights for each tank on separate drivers for each tank. How many LEDs should I use for each 10 gallon tank? also how many lights should I use for the refugium?

Well I want to do LEDs because me and the wife are doing the entire house and everything new in LEDs. We are about to do the whole house on solar and trying to keep the power consumption down. I know it is not a lot but I have to do what I can to keep the wife happy. :) lol

I guess a good start would be what's your budget! And what lighting requirements are the tanks gonna need? Do you wanna buy fixtures or do it yourself?

I'm going to build myself. I also build the driver for the lights. I was thinking 10 natural white LEDs per tank, but not sure if that will be enough.

Really good info. I'll just have to build a test system with 10 lights and see how that goes. I'll put in a dimmer knob so I can put it to mid range for 10 LEDs then I can add or take away without rebuilding I new driver.
