    Hi,

I'm considering a DIY LED lighting for a 90g reef tank for SPS and LPS corals, and came across these on the internet. Do you think they'd do the job?

Any help would be much appreciated. I live in Laos where equipment and accessories are rather hard to come by!

I think there are better setups out there. You are going to have to order several of those sets in order to use it on a 90G. The bridgelux LEDs are good, but only as good as the drivers and they don't say who makes the drivers. There are quite a few places that sell LED Kits. I would continue looking. Trust me I understand trying to save money where you can, but I think you will end up buying something different later on down the road. There are only 4 blues and 4 whites with each order. You would need quite a few sets to do a reef tank. Look into the Taotronics or reef breeders, not sure if they ship to you or not. Also look at rapidled if you want to do a DIY. Good luck.

I have had Mh and CP flourecents since I started a tank and just recently switched to LED's. I went with a makers heat sink which IMO is the only way to go and the. Did rapid led dimmable kit and I LOVE it. I have a 120 and am still able to upgrade any part of it I want instead if having to buy a whole new light.

You could run bridgelux on a SPS/LPS 90G, but you will need 60 degree lenses and at least 70 led's split between whatever colors. Brigdelux in my experiments produce good PAR(100) with appropriate degree lenses on the bottom. At that power they are usually around 600-700 PAR. This is based on a 38 LED bridgelux fixture on a 40G breeder with 80 degree lenses and a 90 LED bridgelux fixutre with mixed 60/80 degree lenses on a 120G long.

Those Bridgelux sound like knockoffs, which are commonly used now....
