I will soon be able to start my 55g build. I have picked out lighting(Nova Extreme SLR T5HO Fixture, 48"), sump/fuge equipment (Eheim Hobby Pump, Visi-Jet protein skimmer) and already have QT. My question is about lunar lights so I can have 24hr lighting. The lighting fixture I've picked out has 2x54w 10,000k for regular day lighting and 2x54w 460 nm actinics, for dawn/dusk lighting.

Any ideas on lunar LED's? I'm looking for something quick or a DIY weekend project. I want these to be small enough, and light weight enough so they can be on the inside walls of my canopy hood.suggest?

    What would you suggest?
    Where can I get them?

Thanks. All help is appreciated. :cheesy:

What about multiple leds that will connect to each other?

I want 2 on the inside front an 2 on the inside back.

Ah-hah! Could I get these individual ones at Radioshak or should I go through a dealer for aquarium lighting? I might go with a strip too. I am not sure yet.

either one will work. blue is most common, will be alittle brighter then purple but purple will make corals glow more.. btw: those are nice strips.

    update: after reading review below:

I bought both the Stunner 453nm Blue and 403nm UV strip, and compared them to a Current PowerBright 460nm system. The Stunner Blue is better for a nano because it has no reflector, so it spreads well. The Powerbright 460 is much much brighter, but is awful for a nano because it directs all the light into one area. Was extremely unimpressed by the Stunner 403nm UV, the 453 Blue fluoresces corals much better and is actually visible throughout the tank.

sounds like the 453 blue is the strip you want for your lunars.

Honestly? Seriously? I'd go for an Outer Orbit Pro hood. I've got one. LOVES it! You can't beat the Metal Halide shimmer, and mine has both Halide and T5, and 18 moonlights built in. Both blue and white, each color on individual switches. Everyone talks about the heat, but I live in Las Vegas... we get 110 degree summers.... it's not that big of a deal, really. I installed a couple of Azoo sump fans (20.00, Marine Depot/Ebay), and problem solved...
