Cool. But how much was your light fixture?
How much would it be for a 55g?

My light fixture is 48". I got it used for around 300 off the RC used forum. I see them cross there all the time. It would fit a 55. Just a matter of how many watts you wanna pour into your tank :D

New I have no clue what it would run, but I live by the creed that the two places you DO NOT want to skimp on your tank are the LIGHTING, and SKIMMER. Find out what you can afford, and then get the model one up from that. If it means saving up another month or so on your build, so be it. It'll be alot cheaper than setting up that Nova light and realizing you need more, and having to buy another ;)

Buy right the first time. I've never regretted that. I bought three lights trying to go 'cheap' before I finally bit the bullet, saved up and shelled out the cash for this one. I have NEVER regretted it. And the nighttime display is WELL worth it!

For the record, I've known three or four people just getting into the hobby with Novas come over to my house (I give away frags alot), take one look at my light, and want it. SOOOO much better growth and quality than the Novas.

You'll pay more up front, but you'll buy right the first time. It's your choice, I'm just telling you my experience :) I've had ALOT of tanks (This is my 30th?)

Wow. You didn't bother to mention the brand though..

I'm going with the Nova Extreme SLR T5 fixture (HOT5's, 216w) and switching out the bulbs for new, better ones(ATI, Geisman, KZ, ULV or GE brand) when I can afford it.

I'm going to buy a used Coarlife 125 for the skimmer.

Yes I did. Outer Orbit Extreme Pro. I think it's by Current USA. My skimmer is an ASM G2, personally, but that's for a 120 gallon. My tank is the same length as yours, but twice as deep. :)

I purchased "Lunar Link" by Current. They are sold in individual links so you can add as many as you like (they link up). They come in white or blue. I installed 4 in my 48" canopy. They were fairly inexpensive and I like them just fine.

    I'm sorry. I didn't see the brand name until I went back and looked again. Yours is a 100g I assume? My 55g is 48" long X 12" wide X 21" tall
