UPDATE: Sorry I bought my LED kit already set up from someone else and I didnt have the right led's in my OP. My LEDs are 16x Blue XP-E 16x RB XP-E and 8 x CW and 8 x NW.

    Hey,

I have a rapid led 48 DIY kit with [STRIKE]50/50 white blue spread[/STRIKE]See above.. cree bulbs 80 degree optics, meanwell drivers and a rapidled dimmer.

I will be setting these up on a standard 90g reef ready tank. Measurements: 48" long 18" wide and 24" tall.

    1. Is this enough light for a mixed reef.. zoas and sps?

    2. If so, how high would you hang them off the water. I saw someone else did 8".

    3. What % should I run the whites and blues at depending on your answer above?

    4. What would be a good percentage to start with once I transfer from T5's? And how fast should I increase the percentage (if this is the right thing to do? or should you just set a % in the beginning and stick to it?)

    5. How difficult would it be to replace some whites or blues with 1 or 2 red or violet UV or cyans? I want the red color to come out a little more in my corals than they do with just the 50/50 white blue.

    6. Are led's like halides where you shouldnt blast corals with them for over 8hrs a day? I thought I read that you cant do that with with mh's and thought led's might be similar.

Sorry for a long post.. I just dont want to kill any corals :(

    Thank you so much everyone.

Thank you guys. I made a mistake in my desc. in the original post. I have different led's if it matters at all. See edit in original post.

That's alot of blue! you should be ok though! Max the whites out and dial back the blues!

If you have some pics i would love to see them!!!

I also have a RapidLED set up. The same one you have but i did 50/50 cool white royal blue and used 60 degree optics instead of 80 degree. I'm pretty confident that it is plenty of light.
