They would light an aquarium terribly. Look at number of LEDs compared to wattage. Looks like 1/4 w LEDs. Not very good for aquarium lighting.

T8, 6k bulbs. 6k. Those are for plants. They would grow some bada$$ hair algae. Would be pimp for a fuge, or a DT full of tangs.

that would be sweet, i have seen plenty of tanks with different species of algae that are in some cases more pretty than some of the best reefs out there!

I'm sure these will be in the aquarium market soon. The Chinese will build lights like this using any color diode you specify. The question is how much higher the price will be. Will it be double or triple the price of these.

orphek I think it was already has a teaser thread made for thier actinic bulbs. I would say those definitely have some great possibilities. There are probably some higher K bulbs in the works that would be great for FOWLR tanks in the works also. I think we're still a little ways off from good solid 10-20k pop in bulbs that will give enough penetration for corals in deeper tanks, shallow tanks/runways maybe.

Their 5' long bulb had 2000 lumens. By contrast, 2 of my XM-L bulbs of the 8 in my Biocube 29 hood fixture can put out 1800 lumens. Radio Shack LEDs won't accomplish much for photosynthetic things.
