to make a long story short; i got a new Marineland Pro Lighting 24-Hour Lighting System from a fellow 3reef member. for some reason the LEDs won't stay on. they just flicker like a freakin' strobelight. it did it the first night i used it (the night between Thursday to Friday) and then it magically solved itself after turning the LEDs on and off manually (the fixture comes with a timer). last night it did it again. this time it didn't solve itself. i'm super bummed and at this point i'm really happy i didn't sell my old fixture.
i'm not even sure what i'm suppose to do about it.

i took a video of it:

It is a beacon for boats.

Have you opened the fixture up? May be as simple as a loose wire. take it apart and make sure everything is connected properly. if everything is connected properly, wire the leds to a plug a bypass the timers.

lol! i thought of making few extra dollars and rent those lights to a local dance club.

i checked out the LEDs connection - it seems okay. a friend of mine said it may be the ballast which is, of course, an inner one. i'll ask my electrician neighbor to give it a look and see if he can find something. i should probably try and call Marineland as well, maybe it's something common.

    **update**
after calling Marineland, waiting for over 40 minutes on the line (well i actually called 3 times, gave up after 20 minutes each time, they answered after about 5 minutes the 3rd time), a very nice lady answered the phone. it was the first time she ever heard of such a problem in their fixture. she also said a technician will call me within 24 hours and it sounded like he is gonna come over and look at the problem (they do promise that). lets see what happens.

Yup. That was my first thought as well. Let's see what the technician will have to say :)

Before you have it fixed, now would be a good time to try some hypnotic suggestions to your fish.:cheesy:

    finally, an update.
Marineland actually sent a technician to my house. he also thought it was the timer, it wasn't. according to him there was a problem with the fixture's driver. he took the fixture with him and less than 3 days after i got a brand new fixture. now this is some great costumer service!!!
