Would the new 135w LED fixture from BoostLed be too much light for a 10g? If so would one or two PAR30's be better?

I love the shimmer effect in your tank from the LED's! What is the difference between the 60 degree optics, 80 degree optics, and 40 degree optics? What light arrangement should I get? like 3 white x 2 blue?

the 60 degree optics will allow for a deeper penetration in the water, but for a 10gallon you dont need that much. the 80degree optics I went with were from RapidLed and not boost, but should be similar. these give me more overall spread of light and no "spotlight" effect.
as for what light arrangement, that depends on what you want the tank to look like. The two I have are both with 3blue and 2CW, so I get a much more blue look overall. Thats the way I like it. Hope this helps.

I think I will go with the same LED setup as you, I like the color of light on your tank and do not want a "spotlight effect". Thanks for all the help!

np. I will answer anything else I can about them .I like your idea of a larger fuge for your nano from your other posts. I was thinking of doing the same thing. but for now I just did the DIY HOB fuge. seems to be working ok.

thats a good question I hope someone answers it, but you would probably have to look at spectral analysis's and par reading of both leds to compare them.

    yep way to much.

two par 30's would be better

The "better" option will vary dependent upon application and desired ease of use.

Rapids are great but you need to build everything. If that's what you want to do then those are the better option. BoostLED's are much simpler due to their universal socket design.

not true rapid sells a par30 cree LED lamp.

    and a par 38(7 leds ).

But I'm not sure if rapid has anything that would be comparable to the new boost unit.
