    Hey guys,
I am starting a 45B tank with scorpionfish/small lionfish. The craigslist tank came with a hood with T5 lights in it. I want to do LED for electric cost and look.
The hood is retrofit with plastic ties to hold the lights in, so I could swap it out. My tank is 30 inches wide and I cant find any LED lighting units between 24" and 36" so they are all too short.

Any advice, should I scrap the hood and put 2 x 24"-30" extendables over the top?

I was thinking taotronics but I dont want to have to drill the wall since its a a rental apartment. I saw a DIY to install the taotronics on the tank but I dont think it would work cause of the width.

Finally, Id prefer to have the top mainly closed so my cat cannot contact the fish if he decided to go on top.....

Sorry for all the details, I just searched ebay and the internet and im stuck =/

btw, id like something that could do FOWLR and potentially some low light corals but corals are not a priority, i have a reef tank across the room.

    Possibly a DIY kit?

I have a 40B and run ecoxotic panorama pros. I currently run three but have ran two since spring. It is a softie and lps tank and I eventually want two more modules but funds are low. I'm really liking the lights and they are super easy.

This looks perfect. May need to pic up a couple of shifts at work to finance though.

    Ecoxotic looks interesting as well.

Still using the t5s for now.

IMO go with a DIY solderless kit. The ecoxotics use 12K whites too.
