UncleJed, I asked you about this a few months ago and you said you use the exotic stunner strips to get a good shimmer on your tank. That's why I bought them. They didn't work at all so I sent them back. What LED's were you talking about?

Look into Ecoxotic "Stunner Strips" (cheaper) or their "Modules".

If that's what you want to do, I recommend the Reef Brite LED strips. The cheaper ones, like the ice cap strips and stunner strips are designed more for moon lights or actinic supplementation. There are other LEDs that will do what you want, but they're not cheap.

    Would something like this work?
Double Bright LED Lighting System (24" - 36") - Lighting - LED at BigalsOnline

I'm not positive, but they are only 1 watt bulbs, so I don't think you would get much of a shimmer. The Reef Brites are 3w I believe.

You know, sometimes I don't realize that everyone isn't well versed in certain areas, for this I apologize. I will, 9 times out of 10, call the company of which I am purchasing from to get all my questions and concerns answered. I talked to Ecoxotic via email and talked to my LFS buddy to see how many Stunners or Modules I would need to get the shimmer on my tank with 2 T5s still on it. Notice I said;"Look into Ecoxotic "Stunner Strips" (cheaper) or their "Modules". You would have to ascertain how many of which ever you chose to use with the existing light. The Stunners as you know are linkable, you may have needed 4-6 and that would compare to 2 Modules although the Modules will actually grow coral. Sorry if I wasn't as thorough as I normally am.

they don't specify the wattage, and for that price i would be surprised if each bulb was over .45, so, no, that will not produce the effect you are looking for.
