Just purchased a 40 gallon breeder tank and would like to know your lighting suggestions, the tank will be predominately LPS maybe one or two SPS's corals. I was thinking of one kessil 360we or one radion g3 but I'm not sure if the coverage will look ok. Have read a little on the mass spec razors. Any thoughts or suggestion will be appreciated.

I have 2 kessil 150s on my 40B, I love them. My lfs has two on their 40B frag tanks too. The 350/360 would fry coral in a 40B

Either of those options should give you heavy lighting toward the middle of the tank where SPS should do well, and it should fall off towards the ends to give room for less light demanding corals. I ran a original Radion over a 40 breeder for quite awhile and had great results.

I agree,I use a 20" Razor over my 40b mixed reef which works really well.If you would like more coverage to light the entire tank more evenly a 27" Razor or two Kessils or Radions would do it.

The two Kessil 150s cover my 40B just fine. I have them about 6" over the water, I have also seen the "cheap" ebay/amazon dimmable fixtures over a 40B beside another 40B with two kessils. Not much difference. I really like the look of Kessil fixtures myself and that was why I went for them as opposed to the ebay/amazon fixtures.

I agree with Lew,the reefbreeders fixtures are def worth looking into as a less costly alternative, alot of 3reef members seem to speak highly of them.

I like the idea of the kessil 150's I would just like to run a blue cycle to show off the different colors in the coral, that being said I lean more towards the one 360w just running on no more than 40% but I do not know if the tank would look dark in spots. The radion also has me questioning if there will be dark spots. I'm glad to hear all the great info from everyone.

Don't see why you would wanna spend the extra money. Reef breeders are amazing for the price, my lps have been thriving under the value fixture :) and you can choose what spread you want.

360 seems overkill for a 40 dominated lps.
