Ok so I took the plunge and ordered my LEDs they come with 90 degree optics, I have two fixtures for my 48x18x20 standard 75 gallon, I am building a canopy that is approximately 16 inches tall, how high off the waterline should these bad boys be for optimum spread?

Alright I'll use the hanging kit inside the canopy, going to have to start them out low at about 30-40% to avoid bleaching right?

Yes, that is if your coral's are not under LED's now. If I purchase a frag that is not under LED's I will set it low in the tank Zoa's maybe even shade and watch them moving them up a little at a time. I learned this after bleaching out a beautiful zoa that took almost 2 months to recover.

12" seems high.......Mine are mounted 7" off the top of the tank, so actually about 8" above the water line.

From the people I have talked to..... around 7-9" is ideal, I could be wrong though.

I have mine 11 to 12 above the water line and get very good coverage.
