Is it bad to have a few krill sitting in the tank over night? We have 3 star fish 2 clown 1 pink spotted goby hippo tang 7hermit crabs 7snails saebay ane and a purple lobster. Sometimes i check on them late at night and still see the food in there. Are we overfeeding or should we leave it in there for the starfish and others to eat? The tank is 41 gal.

As a rule of thumb, I feed my fish only what they can eat in a three to five minute period once per day. And that is quite a bit compared to others on the forum. Some feed twice weekly. And in a smaller tank, I think that is the way to go. Less room for error in ammonia build up secondary to rotting food and poopy.

I feed once daily in my 75g and twice weekly in my 10g. When I go on vacation, I am not going to have them fed at all. Too many problems with overfeeding (neighbors who do not know what they are doing)

So the less food lying around the better. The cleanup crew will find enough to clean up without it. What kind of hermits and snails do you have? And what kind of starfish?

WRT the hippo tang.......it is eventually going to outgrow your tank. If memory serves, they can get to 12 inches.

Hope this helped. You will find a lot of support on this site. Welcome to 3reef.
