Well I took a chance getting a lemon peel angel. I know that some pick and some dont. I started with two mushroom polyps and he left those alone so after 3 weeks I bought a small colt frag to see how that would do. When I first put it in the tank and right away he picked at it twice then has left it alone since 1 week. Today the colt frag was knocked on the sand so i put it back up in the rock work. Tonight I noticed a white area on it and later the lemon peel picking at it. Are there any corals that are less tempting to be picked at so far the mushrooms are fine I guess. I could have alot of those being that I want to keep the fish.

I my Coral Beauty, a Centropyge too was a nightmare, IMO a picker is a picker. I would try to trade the fish because my only got worse over time. As far as corals to try I would say the most toxic leathers like singularia.

I sooo want a Bellus Angel, but I can't risk getting a picker. Everyone says their the most reef safe angel, but I don't want to take a chance :(

I have never heard of any coral being too toxic for an angelfish to eat. This is what they do in the wild and if yours is eating corals now, it will not stop.

One of the "Coral" issues Lee Eng Sing (might be hacking his name) any way the inventor of "Mircle Mud" had a large 300 gallon ish tank with a bunch of Holocanthus angels and a bunch of other non reef safe fish and he had coral in it. I am going to have to look it up but there are choice coral that angels will never pick at.

I moved the coral to the other side of the tank and it seems that he is leaving it alone like before. Maybe be it was in his territory? The mushrooms have gone un touched?

You really ran a risk when you introduced it. Everyone knows that angels cannot be trusted. And there is a 50/50 chance that he may or may not pick. And even if he doesn't pick on the corals off the bat, he might pick it up later which will be a huge headache when your reef is done. I think you should of researched the fish a little better. But if you really like it, I guess your gonna have to test corals, to see which he will pick at and which he wont, although I think he will pick at anything he's curious at. I was thinking of adding a flame angel to my 30g reef, but I just can't take that risk of it picking at my expensive coral. I'm kinda reconsidering getting anymore hermits bigger than half inch because they keep knocking stuff over. I hate that!

    Good luck!

I'd love to get a Flame Angel myself. I had a Coral Beauty Angel and it never touched any of my corals. Most angels(Pomacanthurus, and Holacanthurus) eat sponges as their main staple, but will sample everything from Urchins to corals to inverts, algae and tube worms. Centropyge Angels aren't suppose to be as detrimental to a reef tank as the above but cannot be underestimated as making a buffet out of one's reef tank.

In all fairness to MWLUDE I also have a lemonpeel and love her very much. I too have some corals and am learning what she will and won't touch. The LFS, internet, books, magazines, and many many forums have stated that this angel was "Reef Safe". I myself not being a marine biologists must take someone elses's word over my own when it was stated many many times that these fish were reef safe. So please do not "Preach" about reading and learning about your fish. I came and use this site over others because they have some gurus that always preach and I will bet they too as well as yourself have gotten a bad piece of advice or information and reacted on it...
