Lemonpeels are known to be much less reef safe then some of the other dwarf angels. Very few of them dont pick as something.

There are two types of very similar Angels- The Lemonpeel and False Lemonpeel.

The False Lemonpeel looks just like the True one except it does not have the blue around it's eyes. I believe that the Flase Lemonpeel are much more "reef safe" than the True.

I have a False Lemonpeel, and I have never seen it nip at corals... it has nipped at the sponge once or twice, but stopped doing that a long time ago...

I see it graze on hair algae all day in the tank and after I got my algae problem under control, I started feeding it nori... it LOVES nori... which plays to the notion that the false lemonpeels are more veggie lovers than the true lemonpeels... it will readily eat all meaty foods that I feed the tank, however and he is probably the most voraious eater, so I keep him well fed.

It will also pester new fish additions to the tank... I have to be careful when adding a new fish, as he doesn't take well to them, but the ones who have been there for a while he doesn't bother at all.

I'd say if you're thinking about a lemonpeel, get the false lemonpeel, as I believe these are better suited for the reef than the true ones, which as reported, WILL nip at corals. I also LOVE the bright color of these fish, and I decided NOT to go with a yellow tang in my tank since they are so disease prone, and I've had bad luck with them in the past.

Probably one of the reasons you have not heard much about Lemonpeels is that they have a reptation of not being reef safe. It could be a good fish for a FOWLR. However, I wouldn't reccomend putting two dwarfs in a 55 gallon tank together. I tried adding a halfblack angelfish to my 75 gallon tank and my flame angel killed it.

Based on the behaviour of my False Lemonpeel, I would also recommend against adding another dwarf angel of any kind.

I'm looking for a rabbitfish to add as a larger fish that I believe my false lemonpeel will not bother... of course, a rabbit is typically too big for a 55 gal, bordering too large for a 120 Gal, but since I have a 5' tank, I think I will be ok.
