Lemonpeel angels- what do you think?

Does anyone have any opinions on these fish? Are they alright being kept alone, or should they have other tankmates? Reef safe?

Any input appreciated 8)

 

Lemonpeel Angles Are a Moderate Care Level Fish.
Reef compatibility is kind of a crap shoot, Some will not bother anything, But They are known to nip at Corals and Clam mantles. They usually will not bother your Invertebrates. So add with Caution.
In general it is not recommended to have two pygmy angels in the same tank.
I have a Lemonpeel in my tank and so far it hasn't been bothering anything.:-/

I've got enough experience to know that anything that is a "crap shoot" is better off not being kept in a reef system.

 

I second that. I dont put fish in my tank that are deemed "50/50" chance.

 

I do agree that is the safest bet, But there are a lot of reefers with pygmy angels in there systems

 

I know this and I'd love to have a flame angel in my tank buuuut, the way my luck is, I'd pick the only one in the bunch that would decide to nip...that's why I don't gamble

True. But when a fish has been reported to bother corals and labeled "Not Reef Safe" by a lot of reefers, you have to take it into consideration when deciding whether or not to put it in your tank. If the majority of the species of fish (whatever it may be) that are deemed "not reef safe" tend to pick at coral, they are all bound to do that, since it is in their nature. If the fish doesn't pick at the coral initially, he will end up doing it later (possibly).

 

I do agree with you, I was just teasing amcarrig a little.

If a fish is deemed not reef safe I will not put it in my reef tank.
As I said I do have a Lemonpeel in my tank ( Reef safe with caution ) I have had it for about 8 months and it hasn't bothered anything. Believe me if it did it would have a new home in my 20 gallon tank. They do love to eat dried seaweed and emerald entree.
But as I stated before it is defiantly a crap shoot and chances are, Like amcarrig stated you will end up with a nipper, This is not just lemonpeel's but ALL pygmy angels. John
