Fish forage for food all day long. I feed my fish 2,3 or 4 times a day. I believe that if I had to swim all day long and hope to find the food I like it would be similar to humans walking or jogging constantly all day. Well we would certainly be hungry at least 3 times a day! Now, not all fish need to eat 3 times a day according to the book but it is suggested that Anthias fish do need to eat 3 times a day. Tangs and angels are veggie eaters and from what I've seen they too are always looking for algae or veggies. When I feed these fish they eat what I put in fast. Hey, everybody's got there own story and this is mine.

Lemonpeels are known as being one of the least reef safe dwarf angels, good luck, keep it well fed.

The same can be said for most dwarf angels.

I will most likely bump up my feeding schedule...I feed Tues, Thurs and Sat now.

I may go 4-5 times a week. I had it down b/c of a big nitrate problem, but the nitrates have been at 0 for months now.:)

I only have about 5-6 SPS frags...mostly LPS and softies....I dont think they go for LPS and soft corals.

How can most dwarf angels be one of the least reef safe dwarf angels?

In reality it can't, there are pleanty of other choices that have track records much better then the lemonpeel. C. argi, flameback, coral beauty, flame angel, C. acanthops, rusty, even potters are considered to be more reef safe then lemonpeels.

Lemonpeels are almost guarenteed to nip, and many times will take out LPS and harass clams.

You should be feeding at least once a day and probably more often then that. Reef fish feed throughout the day, feeding at least once a day is best.

I agree. Feed at least once a day or more. I feed three times a day because of my angel and anthias. They require a lot of food.

I think what marlinman was trying to say is, I guess it depends on who you ask... I have heard that the fale lemon peels are more reef safe than the true lemons... but then, I have heard that flame angels are the least reef safe, some folks say the same thing about potters... I think the consensus is that ANY dwarf angel fish has pretty close to the same chance of "not being reef safe".

And it's all relative... while my false lemonpeel has nipped on many things, he has yet to take anything out, or kill it all the way... for example, he was harassing my clam for a while, but stopped doing it...

One thing I would also like to mention is that fish ARE trainable, and if you're feeding them only when you see them nipping on things, they may be doing this to elicit a response... Which, I guess means the FISH are training YOU! hahaha... seriously though, try to keep them well fed, and treat them like a dog, don't award their bad behaviour with a treat/ food.

So far so good on the lemonpeel....I also bought a flame angel too...I really wanted to roll the dice.....and live on the edge.....and skate on thin ice and .......

So far neither of them are picking at any corals...just picking at the live rock.

    I will post pics ASAP!
