I haven't seen him in person yet so I don't know how big he is. But I think he is small enough now to fit in your palm of my hand.

She has him in a 10g tank with rocks and some hiding places. There is a heat lamp over the tank so he can bask in the light too.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I really like all geckos and was very pleasantly surprised that we have them by the hundreds here at night during the summer, but we always a lot of rattle snakes (but they are cool too).

A 10 gallon tank is more than large enough, they are big time nocturnal. Keeping temps warm at night is probably a must for these cool little guys.

Yeah..I bet he would be more active if the light was on. lol. But he is still "shy" as it hasn't been in there long.

Could you explain the name? Just wondering if it has significance?

She lives on her own, but I just texted here. So we will see what she says. :p

I know this is a new purchase, but the gecko looks undernourished. Leopard Gecko's, Fat-tail Gecko's and the like, store their fat in their tails. You can often distinguish how well a gecko has either been fed, or condition of health, by the thickness of the tail. Juvenile gecko's do tend to maintain a small tail until entering adulthood, but this particular gecko doesn't appear to be a juvenile.

Have a look at this video and you can see the tail is similar in size to the body. The males tails are often much larger.

YouTube - Reptiles, Amphibians, Invertebrates & Small Pets : Leopard Gecko Facts

I owned and bred Leopard Gecko's for a few years. I've also owned the African Fat-tail gecko's as well.

I would highly suggest attempting to up the food intake of the gecko.

    Thanks for the info.

    She got it from Petco..

But she did research befroe hand and has been for about a month now. This is also a juvie so it doesn't have it's adult coloration/pattern yet.

I definitely see what you mean though.
