So Im trying to read up online about the leopard wrasse. (Latest impulse purchase). Everyone says they hare hard to keep. Few sites I ran past said they where Soso....

Anyways I cant directly pinpoint out why they are hard to keep. Most I run into is eating habits. Is it just supposably hard to get them to eat? Or could someone enlighten me on the subject please?

    +k for the help!

from what ive read, getting them to eat is probably the main part of their difficulty. also saw something in regardws to internal worms they usually have. maybe a combgination of both could lead to its difficulty again.

+1. I have a kutieri leopard wrasse (he is a little different than what you typically see). Most of the problems with them do stem from their eating habits and being difficult to get them to eat the foods we feed. I observed mine for almost 3 weeks before I pulled the trigger and watched him eat on many occasions. I think that is why I have been so lucky and he is without a doubt one of the coolest fish in my tank.

Another issue is parasites. Some sites will reccommend that you treat with Prazipro during the initial quarantine.

One more thing to consider, is their sleeping habits. They will "dive bomb" themselves into the sand bed and sleep completely covered by sand. So you need to have a relatively deep sand bed. There were a couple times that I thought I had lost mine because he stayed buried.

I've read they often have intestinal worms, and require frequent feedings - and an established tank so they can graze all day on live rock and pods. Also, that they live fine for a few weeks or months and then just up and die.

But I know you're up for the challenge!

Thanks. Mines eating live brine for sure. Loaded with vitamins though. I have about a 2-3.5" deep sandbed in certain areas.
