You would think that about tangs though, They shoal, in massive groups. But put them in a tank together of their own species and it could be bad...

 

yea that would be a scary site to have in a tank

 

I give the puffer the edge in this battle but you may end up with a tank with just 1 chromis in it too Something to think about before you toss him in there.

 

My cousin got a yellow tang when we went shopping back in july, and i got a purple tang. They where about the same size. Introduced them together and all was well, Yellow developed ick, I removed the fish and QT'ed healed it up and put it back, My purple went straight for it as it hit the tank, and Nailed it with tis scalpel. within 5 seconds the PT successfully shredded the side of the YT The fish litteraly stabbed, dragged into a cave in the tank and ended it :| I had not one second to react it happened so fast.

 

i really dont think the chromis will have a chance at getting the puffer as teh puffer has teeth and teeth hurt, but that is something to think about

Yeah I just purchased 5 Chromis's about 3 weeks ago, acclimated them and put them in as a group.....well let's just say My Trigger had a nice 4 i mean 5 course meal within literally 4 minutes of me putting them in. I turned my back and listened to the crunching and chasing...it was terrible. No More chromis for me dudes.

 

its a case of dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. Eventually your going to lose something, may as well choose.
Personally i say stick it with the puffer, it'd make an awesome video
