    Yea, the problem is I have the apex turn the heaters on at 77.6, the temp dropped to 77.0 with the heaters running in a matter of 2 hours.

    If you have to get a 300w heater, go for it. I have a 300w heater on a 29g tank because the room is colder than the rest of the house. Its always on point and ive yet to experience issues. I dont even have a controller. In your case since you have a controller, your apex will stop it if it ever gets stuck in the on position.
