okay so im getting a 20 gallon long tank which is 30 1/4" X 12 X 12 ? correct me if im wrong

okay so question number one, is the refugium best located in the center or after the return pump?

i need to draw this out and get a picture, my skimmer has 8.5" base plus the pump so something like 8.5X10 and needs a water level ov 7" or 8" so my first bafffel should be that height

the space between baffels should be ? 1" ? and the space under the center baffels which the water flows under should be about an 1" off the bottom of the sump??

and finally filters socks? how do you feel about them?

    thanks !

Well you can do this one of 2 ways. The first way is the way that I thought I was going to do it and that is have your drains enter on one side, then flow over to the middle chamber which would be your refuge, then flow over to the third chamber witch is the return chamber.

I changed my mind and did mine like this. The drains enter the first chamber, then flow into the middle chamber which is the return chamber. This leaves the 3rd chamber for the refuge, but obviously there is no supply of water to it. This can be done 2 different ways. You can tee off your return to the main display and have it dump into the fuge and then the fuge will overflow back into the middle return section. Or like I am doing mine, I bought a seperate smaller pump, which will also be in the middle return section and pump water over to the fuge which will overflow back to the middle. I did this so that i can take the fuge offline seperate from the display, and also so that I wouldnt rob flow from the return pump. This gives me 2 different flow rates, I will push 450 GPH through the first chamber and the middle return section back up to the display. But the fuge is fed by its own pump that flows only 200 GPH through the fuge, giving me longer contact time with the macro.

I have my drain going to the left chamber, which is the skimmer section. That overflows into the center which is the return. Then I have a small pump in my center chamber supplying water to the right chamber which is my fuge and that overflows back into the center chamber.

im between this design or the fuge in the middle..my issue for a center fuge is that my skimmer should run in about 7 inches of water which means my first baffel can be no more than 8 inches because i only have enough space to raise my skimmer 1in so meaning my fuge will also only be 8 inches tall which isnt much
