In addition to just your average aquascape I want to add a little more interest to my tank... I want to have the scape go up the right-hand side wall, creating a wall of rock caves and cliffs, going all the way up to the top of the water.:)

I tried another thread on this before, but I guess I could never fully explain myself. I did not know exactly what I was looking for. This time, I have some requirements;)

-I will have a lid on the tank to keep from fish jumping out.
-The top rock will have to be hung from an eggcrate frame(or at least I would like it to be...) I can use zip ties/acyrlic rods to hold rock together after drilling holes. But I guess my main question is...

How can I hang the rock and still have a lid over the tank?

I've only seen this done once before, so good luck! It was at a fish store in Columbus, OH. But the tank it was a floor to ceiling setup.

    Suggestions & comments welcome. Thanks!

Can't you do an eggcrate lid and cut out the section where the rock comes out of the tank?

Well I plan on using a glass lid. But instead of using 1 48" I could use a 36" & have 12" of eggcrate..

If the rock isn't too heavy you could use square acrylic rods and make a cover from bird netting or clean screen material.

This is getting closer! :) Though I don't want foam; I will use dry and live rock. I love the idea of hiding all equipment.

I was thinking of maybe drilling holes in bottoms and tops of rocks being stacked and putting in acrylic rods to prevent things from falling. I want to be able to disassemble things in the future if I need to, which is why I won't be using silicone/epoxy. I will probably go with a glass lid/eggcrate combo for the cover. I think I will draw a pic tomorrow to further explain what I am looking for.
