Dude - I totally feel your pain. I really do.

Right now, my tank is looking the best it has ever looked since I set it up (6-7 months ago) - except - I cannot get rid of my nitrate problem...

My nitrates used to be between 80 and 100  .

I setup a remote deep sand bed - and waited 3+ months. No perceivable difference.

I built a coil-denitrator and thought I had it licked as it seemed to cycle in about 3 weeks. Then the damn thing cycled again. And Again. And again!

Every time the coil denitrator cycles - it takes weeks. Just when the nitrate level of the effluent seems to be ssssslllllllllooooooowwwwwwllllllllly approaching a reasonable level - wham - the levels spike again and the whole process restarts. Over and over and over...

For the last 4-6 weeks, my nitrate levels have stabilized at 20 (probably from the deep sand bed?). But I cannot get it any lower!!!!!

    Arrrggghhh!

In a round about way - what I am getting at is I understand your frustration. The problem is different - but the frustration is the same.

    Z

Come on, we need to hear from YOU now Wally!!
Great read Sparky, some guys have all the luck!! My corals are thriving, but my fish die, WTF?? Frustrating, and I haven't had enough fish die to say something is wrong with my tank, but after 2 I'm very discouraged also!
