So after the poor economy two of my lfs around 20 mins away have gone out of business. The only one left i would not give a penny too. So my proplem is there is many huge and very very nice stores in a city that is about a hour and a half away. If i bought a fish or coral would the still be ok for this amount of time i have a cooler that i would bring. Please tell me what you guys think. Thanks

It's no problem at all. Just make sure they double bag. I've had more than one leak on the way home.

You'll be fine the LFS I choose to deal with is more of a NSLFS (Not So Local Fish Store) and I've never had a problem. Good Luck!!

You'll be fine. I was visiting family in Maine once, and I went to this little LFS. It was the nicest LFS with the nicest owner I've ever laid eyes on. To show how good this LFS was, the owner gave away FREE water bottles because she knew it got hot in there and wanted customers to be comfortable. My LFS would NEVER give ANYTHING away for free;D. But anyway, to the point of this thread, the owner said she got people from Montreal who would pack stuff up in a cooler and drive 16 hours home. I think you'll be fine for an hour and a half;).

if you find a fish store in the area that you trust, go for it. I don't like ordering online because I would rather support local business in my area. LFS owners struggle (most of them) and if they are good people and stand by their product I don't mind giving them my money at all.

I generally order online or from a store about 2 hours away. The 2 local stores, one doesn't sell SW and the other does but they are generally is very poor shape with lots of dead/dying fish in their tanks.

The store I order from sends the fish on greyhound, takes roughly 3-4 hours from their store to me.
