lfs will GIVE me mantis!

hey haha never said you HAD to... i dont have any pvc, but when i build a new one i will... just gives them a little obstacle course and rock-slide shelter

 

Once our pistol croaks we're getting either another pistol or a mantis in our reef Just a hitchhiking N. Wennerae is all, nothing big. I'd be worried about what my fish might do to him though And if you keep them fed enough, you'll have more living snails than you might think

My LFS has some fabulous reef tanks, but I know all the mantis hidey holes in them. One guy lives in the PVC holding up a powerhead haha. I've never seen his whole body but he's always willing to poke his head out and stare at me. And on little guy in their frag tank is pobably the smartest mantis I've ever seen. He's the one I wanted them to catch for ages, but every trap or method they used to try and catch him for me failed, and the little still stole food and such from the traps The owner even took it personally "getting outsmarted by a mantis", and he still hasn't caught him. I guess he's staying in there. Ironically, there's a pistol and goby in that tank with the mantis. But the problem is I don't worry about what the mantis would do to our pistol shrimp, I worry about what our pistol shrimp would do to a mantis.

 

ok here are some pics. what should i do to make it better for him? the damsel like the pvc holes a lot already.

 

i would maybe get more lr or break up the lr into smaller pieces and cover it more so the pvc doesnt show as much you can also try connecting them

 

heh i hope you're there to witness when the mantis rips that damsel out of that pipe

 

connecting them isnt possible unless i buy more. i can look in the garage but i dont really want to buy more. how bi of pieces should i go with. 1 inch? 2 inch?

 

i would just get more live rock and cover them up more

 

i may smash it. i dont have money for anymore stuff. other wise id go out and buy more pvc and live rock. ill get some good pieces off of it. is this a good idea?

 

ya go for it id smash it up to help cover the pvc up more then just save up and keep buying lr until you satisfied with your aqua scape

 

im gonna buy DBR so i dont have to worry about aiptasia or anything. but i have to have money first dont i? maybe for my b-day i will order some.
