    Hey guys,
As some of you know, I have had a few fish jump out recently. I need to stop this from happening, but I do not want to install a canopy.
I went down to the hardware stores this weekend thinking egg crate. Problem is, they don't seem to make it wider than 21 (and some fraction) inches. I need a 24" width. I had made a acrylic "wall" previously for my little system, but this could be very pricey on the new tank as I would need 16' of it to circumference the tank.
Thought about screen, but I don't really want to have to deal with that much light reduction.
    Any other ideas?

Place a small mirror somewhere on the glass, that will keep your bully fish busy.

Well.....21 inches is most of the way. Just cut another piece to fit that and lay it down over the brace and tank lip.

Or.......you could build yourself an honest to God canopy. You are to a point now where you need to start spending some more serious money on it anyway. You did a great job on the bottom. You should be able to construct a top........

What about some kind of goal net material with smaller openings stretched and attached to a wooden frame? I think Iv seen cheap laundry bags made of the perfect stuff.

21" is not enough to catch the lip. I need the 23 1/2" to catch the lip front to back, so the center brace will not help in fitting it.
And no, no canopy. Not a fan of them personally. I wouldn't fit one even if I got it for free, I would probably just rather deal with jumping fish at that point ;)

Have you tried introducing the "jumper" fish when the lights are off? You obviously have some bully fish in your tank that are chasing them around to the point of jumping.

No, no, no.....I mean from left to right. Can you just piece it together from left to right(lip to brace, brace to brace, then brace to lip). Then finish off the last three inches in the back with a three inch strip from right to left (lip to brace, brace to brace, then brace to lip).

No, bullying is not an issue, everyone plays nicely together. And the fish that jumped (mandarin and copperband) are not "typical" jumpers, and have all been with me for a while. It was more of two completely random incidents that seemed to happen close together. Was just looking for something quick (like the egg crate or acrylic wall) as a little extra insurance to prevent it from happening again.
