the screen you can make it fit in sections , you dont have to run it under the lights. use velcro to attach it in places.

OK....center brace won't help fitting it. Skipped past that. Nevermind :)

How long have you had a tank? I ask this question b/c I've had a open top tank for over 23 yrs and have only had two fish jump and commit fish-a-cide.
On a different note, cant you just tie wrap the two pieces of egg crate needed together to fit your tank?

I made this exact thing [in the second link] the other day lol. I have just lost 2 diamond gobies and wanted to make something that they cant get past before I get another goby. First one went right through the holes in the eggcrate, it was a very small goby. After that I fastened a piece of the bridal veil fabric over the eggcrate to prevent jumping through the holes. We got another goby and [i'm guessing] he jumped up close to the center brace popped the screen up and came out of the tank over the center brace and landed on top of the other cover then cooked under the light . Haven't got another goby yet but I'm pretty sure this will work. I am also putting these things on the tank to keep the lid from popping up [idk what they are called] They are kind of like the things on the back of picture frames that keep the picture from falling out the back of the frame. I also found those in the section at Lowes with all the stuff you use to build window screens. One of our LFS has these on all their tanks

yup, I've seen it at hardware stores ... netting just big enough to not allow fish through, but doesn't block light either.

A small wooden frame and a few staple and voila ... all those fish are stuck just bouncing off the net.

Gutter guard! Used it in my sump between baffles instead of eggcrate to keep chaeto out of the pump housing.. I set carbon on it too for a good pass thru!
I may do the same thing and drape it around my lighting.. my sixline jumped out last week

I might have to try to order the pond netting. Unfortunately I can't get it )or the GOOD gutter guard) locally here. All the netting is either the soft plastic type (too soft, I worry about it near the lights) or just plain old steel chicken wire (not going to work over water).

Yep, two of them. But nothing like that at either.
