Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but I can't find what the average lifespan is for reef inhabitants. I'm super competitive & I want to know if I have made a mistake or if old age has won. If there isn't a list already maybe we can start one? Also if I knew the average life expectancy of livestock it may help me decide to purchase it. Thanks in advance!!

yeah exactly some species live longer than others, furthermore do not forget that in the natural environment that is the reef predation becomes a major variable in determining life expectancy.

if i am not mistaken i believe vinny mentioned certain clown fish could live up to 30 years in captivity if happy and healthy?

average from what I have read is abut 10 years for amphiprion percula but they have the potential to love longer.

I spoke to a woman at my LFS who said she had her clown for 17 years. I should have asked which species it was.

If I remember correctly I heard that the life expectancy for a cleaner shrimp is 3 years but I could be wrong. I'm also not sure if that is in the wild or captivity.

there is really a variety of life spans depending upon what you're looking at. I'm not sure where you could find a list of sorts with that information ? I know that's what you were looking for. Bump for your question.

    Rhoads238,

Thanks for the info. It seems like I read on here somewhere that about 3 years is right for a cleaner shrimp as well.
