Hey, I have a reef aquarium with two black onyx true percs and a blue tang which assorted corals. I have two lights, one which is actinic and one which is 10,000k; and recently one of my ballasts has a short. I believe it over-heats and turns off, so i have to turnthe light off, and then on again, only for it to turn off when it gets too hot.

My questions is, which light shoul i have on fr 12 hours constantly, the actinic, or the 10,000K. I work so im unable to always attend to my lights. What should i do?

I would avoid running any type of electronic that isn't working properly, especially when not supervised. What type of lights are they?

I agree with sollie7. Actinics are mostly for aesthetics

THe ballast is stock from an Oceanic Biocube 29G. I will run the 10K from now on only and will look further into fixing the other ballast.

THanks alot for the help guys.
