Just wondering how I should go about changing this light setup out.
What would you guys do about acclimating and dropping the hours, how long to drop for and how long until my normal light schedule can resume.

I have a 6' long tank now with a 50" custom DIY light. It has 2 MH - 250w with 4 PC's - 55w for supplements. The MH bulbs I am running now are CoralVue 20k's.

I am picking up a Sunpod with 3 - 250w MH that I am going to put Phoenix 14k Bulbs in. I may also supplement this if I need to with a dual T5 48'' DIY light from ReefGeeks that I have.

I now run the PC's for about 11hrs each day and the MH's for 7 hours a day. The PC's come on at different times to give some sort of dusk/dawn effect with the actinics and regulars.

So how would you guys acclimate this new light in?

im not all that sure but here is a bump to the top.

if it were me i would just suspend the light unit higher up and gradually come lower to where you want over a few days.

Cut the MH time to 4 hours and increase 1 hour each week until you get to your old schedule. Leave the T5 on the same amount as the PC.

Thanks....I will cut the time down as suggested.

Also....It is an older Current 3x250w MH fixture with some white and blue LED lights. This fixture has 3 external ballasts and they run DE 250 HQI's.

My big question is it possible to change out the original ballasts with IceCaps or Geissmans? If I were to do that, is it as easy as just cutting the wires and then twisting the appropriate pairs together with wire nuts? Is there anything else I need to do or be aware of if I do that?
