So i just put my new light fixture on (Nova extreme pro) and was wondering what the best way to set up the timers? its a 6 bulb T5 with 3 10,000k and 1 actinic on one circuit and 2 actinic bulbs on the other.

I have no corals yet, (one step closer :) )

i was thinking 10 hours total with actinic coming on 1 hour before and staying on 1 hour later. leaving the 10k's on for a total of 8 hours

I cant believe how bright this light is, then again the light that came off was a worn out standard single fluorescent strip light. i thought my tank was clean. LOL

haha ya, everything will show now with the intense lighting... oh and if you have it in a room with a tv you'll probably want a canopy to block some of the stray light.

i had some cyanobacteria growth when i had my lights on from 11am - 9pm. but cut down from 12-9pm and that seemed to help with only actinics for first/last half hour. I'd start with 10 hours total, like you described, and then cut it down if algae becomes a problem.
