I am new to the hobby and I am building a 54 gal corner tank on a budget. I am having trouble finding a solid answer on lighting. I am planning on keeping fish, inverts, and soft coral. I have had people tell me I can use the nova extremes, and people tell me that I have to go with a MH, so to say the least I am a bit confused. I was looking today and came across the USA Current sunpod with 30 inch Current USA Sunpos 1x150W 14K HQI-MH W/ 12 lunar lights. Would this be acceptable? Thanks for any help in advance.

Edit - The tank is a AGA reef ready 38wx27Lx22H

ok i have a 36 gal corner. the problem you will have going with anything BUT MHs is lighting the WHOLE tank, i have PCs on mine, and only a stipe in the middle of the tank is lit. i have to be very particular about where i place corals. MH bulbs project their light in a more round pattern, so you could place one MH bulb over the middle of the tank and call it a day. If i could start over with my current tank, i would go MH for this reason

EDIT: AND the back corner of the tank is always dark

Thanks for the replies. I ended up going with a 24" Orbit w/ 2 x 65W PC Atinic Bulbs, and 1 150W MH. All I have to now is wait for the tank to come in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be here tommorow.
