light for 90 gallon

    would 1 400 watt work for a 90 gallon or would it be to much?

    i would do 2 250s if it were me 48" wide is a huge spread to try and cover with one halide.

    nope a MH is only good for around 24"x24" or so. Different reflectors can change this some, but no way you'll get 48" of coverage out of it. You'd have to raise it up really high, then you'd be lighting your room more than the tank...

    2x250 or even 2x175 (with a good reflector) would be fine.

    I would do 2- 250w in lumenmax elite reflectors and you would be good
