I currently have a 4 bulb t5 light for my 55 gallon tank with a few kenya trees and the waving hand anthelia which are doing really good under my current lighting. I just bought a 36" 150 DE halide + 2x65w actinics with 4 led moon lights.. my question is.. is that a better light than my current t5? I plan to upgrade the halide to a stronger one, but I'm afriad with the divider on top its going to look silly with a shaow when I hang my light.. any advice would be great!

I think you answered your own question. If everything is doing great why rock the boat? The halide will suck up electricity like Coca cola and I am not sure were you live but here in Florida heat is the enemy. The MH will give you a nice shimmer but IMO that can be accomplished by adding a few led strips to your current fixture.Good luck.8)

T5's spread out the light evenly across the whole bulb.Only having one halide is going to make one bright spot right underneath the bulb, not much spread.Good quality T5's can grow anything and no shadows...and low heat.
