I have what looks like a very light green algae, lichen or some filamentous structures in my tank. I tried to take picture...these are the best I could do. White arrowheads point to them The light green "filaments" are about 1/16-1/4" long and very thin in structure.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for comment, I hope it's not that. I've seen lots of green hair algae before, its usually a much deeper green color. This stuff is much paler green, much shorter, and not as flexible.

you would have to get in a lot closer for me to have any chance of seeing it bubba

how long has the tank been set up?
I mean I dont see anything there that woud cause me any concern at this stage to be honest

your rockwork is a credit to you and your nutrient control IMHO

    very tidy tank
and judging by the water surface - some great flow going on in there

Does it resemble anything on the Nuisance Algae Thread?

All I can say is that I wouldn't be worried if I saw that kind of thing in my tank. I probably do have it and can't tell among all the other stuff!

Thanks to all for comments. I'll keep an eye on it.
Clonefarmer thanks for the link to Nuicance algae.
Steve Wright thank you for the kind words. Tank has been running for 2.5 years.
I'm not too worried by the item I'm trying to identify...just wondering if it has a name.
Maybe I can get a better picture in the future.

Check out the Hitchhiker's Guide. Some of the stuff looks kind of like branching Foraminiferans. They are in the Odds and Ends Section.

Is the stuff growing on the underside of rocks and in shade?
