I don't think you'll get a new quality T5HO light for $125. It's all about quality with lights and skimmers, so I'd say wait to spend on the quality when you know for sure what your next tank is. Right now you might be thinking it's going to be a 75g, and the 6 x 54w T5HO is your best bet. But you might come across a 125 gallon in a few months from now that someone is giving away to you or something, and those lights won't fit, so you never know.

I am in the same boat you are. Old PC bulbs over a 90g. Cannot afford a TEK right now. I was going to get two Odyssea 4x54W to get me through, but have decided against it, mainly because I have an Odyssea PC fixture that I truly dislike. I am going to limp through the next month with my current bulbs and if in a month I am liquid enough, I am going for the TEK. If not, I am going to get UVL replacement bulbs for the PC. I figure really good quality PC bulbs are better than POS T5s in this case. They will not penetrate as far, but I think their PAR value up to 12 inches will be just fine. So I will keep my corals in the top half of the tank. They are used to second rate lighting anyway, so I am sure they will notice the improvement.

So I would wait on the T5s until you can afford a better set up. So I feel for ya Larry. I have been battling this decision for the last three months.

I had Tangster, another 3Reef Sponsor (AAT), order my UVL PC lights. Just PM him with the light specs and he'll order them for ya. They came packaged very well and unbroken, which was my main concern for buying bulbs and having them shipped to me.
